There aint no girl in my little red book who could ever replace your charms

Boy oh boy, I surely love this song:

That's Love performing Burt Bacharach and Hal David's My Little Red Book.

Over at MOG you can listen to Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach performing the song in a style more in keeping with the original intention, you might say -- as in, it's not all Nuggets '66 West Coast garage punk rock.

This is a gorgeous song. I love, erm, LOVE. It is the favourite LOVE song of a certain man I know, though my favourite Love song is 'The Red Telephone', which is positively dreamy. Did you ever see that documentary on Love - 'Love Story'? It's good.

Oh, and 'She Comes in Colors' is very pretty, too...

Are you on Mog, Stephen? I've got an account there, which I keep failing to update regularly...

I have a little red book (Moleskine!), but it ain't got no girls in it. There are a few boys in it, though, so perhaps I shouldn't rush to adapt this as my theme tune just yet (oh geez).

But all hail the Bacharach-David songbook from the '60s. Sha-la-la la-la la-ah.
