is really funny.
Good weekend, all?
NP: The proto-goth/industrial granduer of the Cocteau Twins' Persephone, from their 1984 album Treasure.
By the way, calling it proto-goth/industrial isn't by any means intended as an insult; just trying to place it, y'know?

Maybe I'm off the mark... but shades of Cranberries me thinks.
Urk. I shuddered so hard involuntarily that I've given myself whiplash.
Hmmm. You could be right. They're Scottish tho. I dunno, are you sure you don't mean The Cranes?
I've uploaded another mp3 - Pandora - from the same album (Treasure) which gives a very different viewpoint on their sound. Maybe you should listen to that as well and get back to me?
God - I can't understand a word! What are they singing in? But it's very dreamy sounding. She has a dulcet quality to her voice.
Wha' you mean you can't understand her Glasgow brogue? You need to watch more episodes of Taggart! Hah!
But seriously, I think Liz Fraser - the vocalist - makes up her own language . And stuff.
She also appears prominently on The Future Sound Of London's (remember them?) album Lifeforms.
Kate, can you please email me "offlist", as it were...
